Combo is a new, original culinary spot at Electricians Street next to the legendary Gdańsk Shipyard in Poland, which cuisine is influenced by street food from various parts of the world. Since the menu is such a colourful mix with an undefined culinary profile (after all, the harbour is a multicultural centre), it was essential to make the brand’s communication clear and welcoming.

and took the shape of a logotype, which letters imitate different food types. We decided that black and white will nicely tone down the overall expressiveness of the place and keep it stylishly in check.
The name originated from the founders’ idea of combining many different flavours and types of cuisine under one roof. To highlight it, we designed a custom font for the logo, where every letter represents a different symbol.
– clean and simple – is all about the focus on the logo and its message. The teeming place and the night time atmosphere require the signage to be visible and attracting.
and added a bit of humour into the usually formal parts. For example, the list of ingredients now reassures the buyer how right his/her choice was, or just encourages eating before the food gets cold. Another example is where we took the warning info and changed it into this: “Be aware: the food inside this box is very hot, but not as hot as you.”

is directly related to the Solidarity movement (which is considered to have significantly contributed to the fall of communism). Once a thriving factory and the economic pride of Pomerania, in time it lost its significance as fewer ships were constructed there. Today the post-industrial premises are undergoing a second youth as a cultural centre, reincarnating into a place of joy, good music and even better food.
Since the only way Combo communicates with clients is through its place and social media, we had to use every available means to enhance the brand’s message. There was not one thing in the Combo experience that was not marked by its black and white branding. The result: the place is one of the most recognisable in the area, people love it, and it directly translates into sales.
